Casablanca – Morocco’s national carrier Royal Air Maroc (RAM) announced, on September 15, upcoming disruptions on its flights between Morocco and France.
“Due to the strike of air traffic controllers scheduled for September 16, 2022, at French airports, our flight schedule to/from France has undergone changes,” RAM said on Twitter.
The French Civil Aviation Authority (DGAC) urged airlines earlier this week to cancel one of two flights on Friday after a prominent air traffic controllers’ union threatened a strike to protest over wage disputes.
“Flight cancellations and significant delays are expected throughout France,” the national airline warned.
Thus, it urged its customers to stay updated on changes to their flights through the “manage reservation” section on the company’s website to avoid any confusion.

The decision came suddenly after Air France decided in March to increase the number of flights between Morocco and France in the 2022 summer season.
With this “strong return,” Air France offered over 500,000 tickets from France to Morocco, a 7% increase compared to the 2019 summer season.
This was part of an agreement inked between Morocco’s National Tourist Office (ONMT) and Air France, through which the two parties announced the return of flights connecting Agadir and Tangier with Paris Charles-de-Gaulle (CDG) in summer 2022.
The boost in the number of flights was decided after Air France announced, in 2020, travel restrictions after the French media questioned Morocco’s decision to exclude Air France planes from the country’s planned repatriation flights amid the heights of the COVID-19 crisis.

French economist and journalist Pascal Perri has accused Morocco of having a de facto monopoly on the route between the two countries.
