Rabat – King Mohammed VI is expected to chair a council of ministers in the coming days.
Moroccan news outlet Le360 quoted sources, saying that members of the government have been informed about a council of ministers, which will take place in the Royal Palace in Rabat.
The focus of the council will be on the 2023 financial bill. The source does not exclude the potential appointment of new officials.
It remains to be seen whether the council of ministers will meet before or after the opening of the new legislative session of Morocco’s parliament.
The monarch is set to chair the opening of the legislative year on Friday, October 14. During the opening of the legislative year, King Mohammed VI is expected to deliver a speech, addressing deputies and members of the government.
The speech will be broadcast on various national television channels and radio stations.
For the occasion, parliament members are required to wear a djellaba, a type of Moroccan traditional clothing, in accordance with the rules of procedures of the House of Councilors and the House of Representatives.
During the speech, the monarch typically gives instructions and recommendations regarding the priority issues facing Morocco.
In the king’s 2021 speech, he emphasized the consolidation of Morocco’s status and the defense of the country’s best interests in an environment “fraught with challenges, perils, and threats.”
The second topic he addressed was the management of the COVID-19 pandemic, while the third regarded the implementation of the country’s new development model.
