Rabat – Morocco’s national football team is full of confidence in the lead-up to the game against Bleigum’s “Red Devils,” one of the 2022 World Cup’s most anticipated games.
The Atlas Lions’ goalless draw against Croatia helped the squad feel confident that they could do better against Belgium on Sunday.
Left-back Yahya Attiat Allah said that the Atlas Lions were “full of confidence in anticipation of the second meeting of Group F” following the Croatia game.
Attiat Allah emphasized that the draw has motivated the Atlas Lions to do their best to please their fans.
Morocco’s performance against Croatia made international headlines, with Spanish media celebrating the Atlas Lions’ defense skills.
“Croatia got stuck before a physical, fast, and intense football team that was capable of blocking all the paths for Luka Modric and even disturb[ing] the European defense on more than one occasion,” Mundo Deportivo said on Morocco’s performance against Modric’s lineup.
Moroccan fans are optimistic that the Atlas Lions can achieve a win against Belgium, especially following the Red Devils’ performance against Canada.
Belgium faced hardship against the Canadian team, which showed high playing techniques and physical strength during its match with the Red Devils on Wednesday.
Belgium managed to squeeze a 1-0 win against Canada, which was named as the stronger team throughout the majority of the match.
Belgian football star Kevin De Bruyne expressed disappointment at his and the team’s performance, saying that he is not sure why he received the Man of the Match trophy following the game with the North American squad.
“I don’t think I played a great game… I don’t know why I got the trophy, maybe it’s because of the name,” he said, stressing that his team did not play “well enough as a team.”
The football star also acknowledged that Canada played a better game against Belgium.
Morocco and Belgium will play against each other on November 27 at 14:00 Moroccan time. Morocco will also face Canada in its last match in the World Cup group stage.
Morocco’s match against Canada will take place on December 1.
