Rabat – Qatar’s Ministry of Municipality thanked Moroccan fans for helping to clean up the Al Bayt Stadium following Morocco’s match against Croatia on Wednesday.
“Thank you to Moroccan fans for participating in keeping our stadiums clean,” the ministry said in an Instagram post.
Several videos and photos went viral online, showing Moroccans happy and proud to contribute to cleaning up the stadium following the match against Croatia.
Prior to the match, Moroccan content creator and environmentalist Saad Abid launched a campaign to clean up trash left in the stadium following the match.
The content creator said Moroccans will provide trash bags at the stadium entrance two hours ahead of the match.
Thousands of Moroccans are currently in Qatar to cheer up Morocco’s Atlas Lions, who are playing in Group F with Croatia, Canada, and Belgium.
The national team ended its game with Croatia in a goalless draw on Wednesday. On Sunday, Morocco will play against Belgium, which faced hardship to win against Canada.
Morocco’s last match in the group stage will be against Canada on December 1.
Moroccan fans are full of hope to see the Atlas Lions celebrating a win against Belgium, which would help them qualify to the round of 16.
