Rabat – Saudi Arabia is set to become home to an $8 billion floating structure named “Pangeos.” The structure is in the form of a mega yacht and would be the largest of its kind in the world.
The turtle-shaped structure is designed to accommodate up to 60,000 people. Initial designs include plans for 19 villas and 69 apartments on each flank of the yacht.
The structure was proposed and designed by Italian design studio Lazzarini.
According to Lazzarini’s website, Pangeos “takes its name from Pangea, the supercontinent that existed millions of years ago during the late Paleozoic and early Mesozoic eras.”
The company further specifies that the terayacht would be 550 meters long and would measure 610 meters in width. The structure is expected to take eight years to build.
Pangeos would host a rooftop garden, and a ‘terashipyard’ that is 650 meters wide and 600 meters long, providing access to the sea. The structure is also set to host a mall and a beach club.
Lazzarini says that the floating turtle would be able to sail around the world with a speed of 5 knots (5.7 mph/9.2 kph). The structure would be powered by ocean waves and solar panels installed on its rooftop.

“The virtual spaces of the watercraft can also be purchased under an NFT collection,” Lazzarini explains on their website, specifying that users will be able to collect certain content and access the virtual properties with their credentials.
“The same credentials will also work as a property deposit in case of a real construction,” the website notes.
