Rabat – Morocco’s Barid Al-Maghrib Bank announced on Friday issuing a stamp celebrating the Atlas Lions’ historic achievement at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The stamp depicts players wearing the Moroccan national team’s uniform and standing in the middle of the field embracing each other, with the Moroccan flag decorating the pitch.
In a statement, the banking group said that the Atlas Lions’ history-making performances at the 2022 Qatar World Cup was a “proud moment for the entire Moroccan nation.”
Launched under the theme “National Team of Morocco – Dima Maghrib,” the stamp is a symbolic gesture reflecting the bank’s happiness to “join all Moroccans in celebrating this unprecedented success.”
According to the bank’s statement, the artwork of the stamp “illustrates the team spirit on the football field.”
The stamp is scheduled to go on sale starting December 28 through Barid Al Maghrib’s agencies.
Morocco became this year the first African and Arab country to reach the semifinals of the FIFA World Cup, with the Moroccan team knocking out world-class opponents including Spain and Portugal.
The team’s performances dazzled audiences around the world as they convincingly made the case that winning the World Cup is now a realistic goal for underdogs from Africa and Asia.
On their return to Morocco earlier this week, the team was met with a grand public reception showcasing the significance of their achievement.
Morocco’s King Mohammed VI tellingly joined in lauding the team’s historic World Cup run, hosting and decorating them with royal medals at the Rabat Royal Palace on Tuesday.
