Rabat – French football giants Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are reportedly interested in signing Morocco’s football star Sofyan Amrabate.
PSG has reportedly filed its first offer to the Moroccan midfielder, Moroccan sports news outlet Al Mountakhab reported on Monday.
The news report quoted sources, stressing that PSG offered €25 million to sign Amrabat.
Sofyan Amrabat made headlines following his spectacular performances throughout the 2022 World Cup.
The Atlas Lion showcased impressive defensive skills and played a vital role in preventing teams like Spain and Portugal from reaching Yassine Bounou’s net.
Amrabat was noted for extensively covering the pitch during those vital knockout matches and making crucial tackles to keep his team’s net clean.
Amrabat and his teammates’ performances during the 2022 World Cup helped Morocco become the first Arab and African country to reach the semi-final of the global tournament.
Amrabat currently plays for Italy’s Fiorentina. The Atlas Lion’s performance during the World Cup, however, has piqued many international football clubs’ interest in his services.
Converging reports claimed that several Premier League clubs are interested in signing Amrabat, including Liverpool.
The player’s brother, Nordine, believes that his brother is more fit for PSG.
“The World Cup is as important as the Champions League, maybe even bigger. It is normal that Sofyan is the center of attention given how he is playing in this competition,” he said in a recent interview with NOS.
For Nordine, Sofyan would be “perfect for PSG.”
“To see him alongside Verratti would be a dream. I think Al Khelaifi [president of PSG] should act immediately if he reads my words,” he said.
