Rabat – Morocco’s well-organized welcome reception for the Atlas Lions left football fans in Argentina speechless.
Many football fans took to social networks to condemn the chaos that erupted in Buenos Aires on Tuesday during the Argentinian football team’s World Cup victory tour.
Football fans shared pictures from the reception ceremony held in Rabat in tribute to the Atlas Lions, comparing it with the situation that broke out in Buenos Aires when the homecoming celebrations made a turn for the worse.
In a comparative manner, a fan shared pictures from Argentina’s Buenos Aires and Morocco’s Rabat, describing the situation in his home country as a “kind of ignorance and backwardness.”
“Look at these three photos. What kind of ignorance and backwardness are we living?” the fan said.
Many other fans shared pictures of Morocco’s celebrations, with similar comments.
“Learn how it is done, Morocco receives its people. There is no governance in Argentina,” another fan wrote.
Millions of football fans gathered in the streets of Buenos Aires to welcome Argentina’s World Cup-winning squad.
The tour, however, was soon halted due to safety and security concerns.
Photos and videos went viral online showing fans jumping onto Argentina’s players on an open-top bus. At least 18 people were injured during the parade.
The situation forced players to abandon the tour. Instead, the team decided to complete their victory parade with a helicopter.
Meanwhile, in Morocco, security services were dispatched across the locations in which the open-top bus carrying the Atlas Lions crossed.
Morocco’s national security department mobilized over 8,000 members of security services for the welcome ceremony.
The successful reception made international headlines.

American news channel ESPN said: Morocco received a “triumphant homecoming” after its historic World Cup journey.
In addition, Al Jazeera reported on the ceremony, emphasizing that the Atlas Lions received a “hero’s welcome on return home.”
News outlet India Today also reported on the Moroccan reception, stressing that “Morocco’s squad received a “royal homecoming.”
