Rabat – Morocco’s startup ecosystem raised a record $108.44 million across 48 disclosed funding rounds in 2025, but the biggest shift was not the amount of money raised. It was how that money was distributed.
The country’s three largest funding rounds accounted for 33.66% of total investment this year, down sharply from 64.70% in 2024, according to UM6P’s Morocco Startup Ecosystem 2025 Report.
The report says this points to investment being spread across a broader group of companies instead of relying on a few exceptional transactions. It also notes that the ecosystem became less dependent on large outlier rounds and that more startups were able to attract institutional capital.
Funding increased by 14.2% from 2024, while the number of disclosed rounds rose by 20% from 40 to 48. That difference matters because deal activity had remained unchanged at 40 rounds in both 2023 and 2024. According to the report, the rise in transactions suggests the market was supported by a larger pool of investable companies rather than one unusually large deal.

The report points to 2024 as an example of how a single transaction can shape annual figures. That year’s funding total was heavily influenced by a large traveltech round. In contrast, 2025 growth came from a wider transaction base, with more startups securing funding across multiple sectors and stages.
Capital concentration also continued to ease beyond the three largest deals. The top five funding rounds represented 46.11% of all disclosed funding in 2025.
The report describes this as one of the strongest signs that Morocco’s venture market is becoming more balanced. Large rounds remain important, but they no longer define the entire year. Instead, a broader range of companies is reaching pre-Series A and Series A financing.
The funding mix reflects that shift. Pre-seed remained the busiest stage, followed by seed, while pre-Series A and Series A transactions became more common.
Median round sizes increased steadily from $0.53 million at pre-seed to $1.10 million at seed, $3.28 million at pre-Series A, and $7.50 million at Series A, giving founders and investors clearer reference points as companies progress through different stages of growth.
The report also notes that six Series A rounds raised a combined $51.41 million in 2025, although no Series B round was disclosed during the year. Even so, it says the growing number of pre-Series A and Series A deals suggests more Moroccan startups are moving beyond the earliest stages of development and into institutional financing.
