Rabat – The head of Morocco’s Directorates of National Security and Territorial Surveillance (DGSN-DGST), Abdellatif Hammouchi, paid a tribute to two police officers, who recently made local headlines for a patriotic gesture amid heavy rainfall.

The tribute came following a viral video documenting the two police officers scurrying through the rain to pick up Morocco’s flag from the ground so they could carry it off the road and fold it up, in Casablanca last week.

The heartwarming video showed the uniformed police officers helping each other to fold the flag. Subsequently, each of the policemen held the flag to help the other to carry out a purely heartfelt and patriotic salute.

In response to the viral video, Hammouchi decided to pay a tribute to the police officers, emphasizing that  such a “sincere patriotic act reflects the high level of professional and patriotic sense among police officers.”

Hammouchi also lauded both Morocco’s female and male police officers’ dedication to serving the security of their homeland, and citizens as well as protecting the country’s symbols.

To pay tribute to the two police officers, Hammouchi sent a note as well as  an incentive reward to the two police officers to applaud their “sincere patriotism act.”

The video of the two officers has soon gone viral on social media, with many people calling on Morocco’s police directorate to give the two police officers an award.

One of the internet users also paid tribute to the two officers, on Twitter showing them respect.
