Rabat – With only hours remaining before the winter transfer window closes, FC Barcelona is reportedly in negotiations with the Italian club Fiorentina for the transfer of the sought-after Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.
“Barça will offer a loan with a €37m buy option, and will negotiate with Fiorentina today,” tweeted Barca Universal.
Meanwhile, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano said that Fiorentina has so far rejected Barça’s offer of a €3m loan fee with a€37m buy option.

Amrabat missed today’s training session with Fiorentina, which might lead to a “ possible deadline move” after Barcelona’s offer was initially turned down, Romano said.
Other sports outlets deny the reported rejection of Barcelona’s proposal. According to the website Managing Barca, Amrabat has already spoken with former player and Spanish professional football manager Xavi and is now pushing Fiorentina to allow him to join FC Barcelona.
The same website tweeted that the Spanish club and Amrabat have reached “full agreement on personal terms,” and that Barcelona will make a “second offer” to “convince” Fiorentina.

Reports of a potential deadline move for Amrabat come merely days after Fiorentina indicated that they would not sell the Moroccan midfielder in the near future.
“I can confirm that Sofyan Amrabat and Nico Gonzalez are not for sale, ” Fiorentina CEO Joe Barone said in a recent interview.

But with Amrabat’s outstanding performances at the 2022 World Cup having put him on the radar of several elite European clubs, many observers maintain it is only a matter of time before one of the interested clubs lure the Moroccan midfielder away from Fiorentina.
The Guardian recently ranked Amrabat among “the 100 best male male footballers.”
“The fulcrum of morocco’s historic run to the last four in Qatar is now recognised as one of the best in his position having developed significantly since leaving the netherlands in 2018,” the British newspaper wrote, adding that “Fiorentina [is] facing a fight to keep hold of the 26-year-old.”
