Rabat – Moroccan international Selim Amallah could be the latest reinforcement for Spanish club Real Valladolid in the January transfer window, Spanish outlet AS reported.
“Amallah is already a Valladolid player!” AS journalist Manu Sainz said on Twitter. “Signed until 2027 and Pucela [Valladolid] is paying half a million euros for the transfer.”
The player is scheduled to arrive in the city on Thursday, the Spanish site reported, and will undergo a medical exam as a final preparation.
The 26-year-old midfielder was one of the players who led Morocco to a historic World Cup run in 2022, where they became the first African and Arab country to reach the semi-finals.
Following the competition, he faced difficulties at his Belgian club Standard Liege, getting relegated to the B team along with other players after not wanting to renew his contract.
Valladolid are currently 18th in Spain’s top-flight La Liga. With a relegation battle in sight and in poor form with five losses in a row, the club has sought reinforcements during January, also signing Venezuelan Darwin Machis and Canada’s Cyle Larin.
Morocco’s World Cup run has improved the stock of several players in the transfer market, with the squad’s market value increasing by 77% following the competition.
