Rabat- Newcastle United agreed a deal with Ajax on Tuesday, which will see the club signing Dutch midfielder Seun Steur for $25 million.
“€24m fixed fee, €3m add-ons plus sell-on clause included,” sports journalist Fabrizio Romano reported.
After signing the promising French professional football goalkeeper Ewen from Stade de Reims for $ 18m and Bazoumana Touré from TSG Hoffenheim for around $43 million, Newcastle United is seeking to strengthen their squad by acquiring Ajax talent Seun Steur, in preparation for returning to competition next season.
Steur made his first-team debut in December, but quickly established himself as a regular, starting in the De Klassieker win against Feyenoord a couple of weeks later. During his season with Ajax, he scored 1 goal and made 1 assist in 25 appearances in the Dutch Cup and UEFA Champions League, making himself an important member of Francesco Farioli’s squad.
Sean Steur became the youngest Ajax player to set up a goal in the Champions League at the age of 17 years and 333 days.
“Sean Steur is always on our radar. He helped us when we needed him, and his opportunity will come again.” Farioli said.
The promising young midfielder will start a new journey with Newcastle United until 2028, helping the London team return and compete for titles next season.
