Rabat – Lower temperatures due to the ongoing cold snap across Morocco will persist until February 6, a new weather alert from the General Directorate of Meteorology announced today.
The weather office said cold weather with minimum temperatures between -3 and -7 degrees Celsius will hit several provinces across Morocco from Friday to Monday.
The maximum temperatures will range between 7 and 19 degrees Celsius.
Minimum temperatures are expected to range between -7 and -3 degrees and maximum temperatures between 7-14 degrees Celsius are expected to hit the provinces of Midelt, Ifrane, Al Haouz, Boulemane, Sefrou, Azilal, Khenifra, and Beni Mellal.
The same weather alert concerns Taza, Jerada, Tinghir, and Figuig.
Meanwhile, temperatures between -3 and 2 degrees Celsius and 14 and 19 degrees are expected in the provinces of Chefchaouen, Al Hoceima, Guercif, Oujda-Angad, Taourit, Driouch, Taounate, El Hajeb, and Moulay Yacoub.
The same weather will concern Fquih Ben Salah, Khouribga, Chichaoua, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Ouarzazate, Zagora, Errachidia, Tata, and Taroudant.
The cold snap has been spreading across Morocco over the past few weeks in various provinces including Rabat and Casablanca.
In January, King Mohammed VI ordered the launch of a solidarity campaign for the population exposed to the significant drop in temrpatures in the provinces of the Great and Middle Atlas.
The operation, which targets households in the provinces of Midelt, Khenifra, Azilal, and Al Haouz, will include dispersing kits consisting of food products, and blankets.
