Among the many women who deserve mentioning on International Women’s Day is Moroccan entrepreneur Hanane Benkhallouk, who is using her over 20 years of experience to help others on their business journey.
On her LinkedIn page, Benkhallouk describes her professional portfolio as a “multi-industry management experience.” Her background involves working with Fortune 500 companies, governments, and nonprofits across many sectors and locations.
The Moroccan entrepreneur’s passion was sparked during her time in the lead team for Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashi Al Maktoum Foundation, where she was responsible for innovation programs.
In this fast-paced world, Benkhallouk is eager and determined to find a balance between all of life’s daily demands, in order to prove how you can be successful professionally and personally.
Countless achievements
Founder of Tawazoun (Arabic for Balance), Benkhallouk made the first-ever think-do tank platform in the Middle East. The initiative has 1,500 members and focuses on creating a balance between people, work environments, societies, and the planet.
The company’s mission aims to “bridge gaps within people, workplaces, society, and the planet,” the official website states.
In addition to the Middle East-based platform, she has her own personal brand, “Humanizing Business,” where Benkhallouk strives to “contribute to the MEA region’s move to an innovation and knowledge-based economy.”
With so much knowledge to share, Benkhallouk became an author in 2021 of best-selling book” Seeds of Change: How to remain relevant in an ever-changing world.” The book helps people facing business challenges adapt and evolve.
Such dedication and achievements have not gone unnoticed as she was awarded the Game Changer Award in 2019 from the Middle East Institute of Excellence in Dubai and the Saphira award from the Moroccan government in 2016.
Beliefs and motivation
The pioneering figure prides herself on her ability to contribute to the ecosystem and her advocacy for transformational leadership. She is particularly motivated by women’s advancement along with diversity and inclusion.
In her pledge to positively contribute to society, Benkhallouk is a mentor and co-founder of LINK — an initiative that focuses on supporting women in their professional careers. In addition, she is the vice-president of the Dubai chapter of Soroptimist International, which is a global organization that aims to empower women and girls.
Benkhallouk was born in Casablanca and has lived an international lifestyle between the US, Morocco, and the UAE — three countries she is “privileged to call home,” as she writes on her LinkedIn. In 1999, she graduated from the New York Institute of Technology where she studied Marketing and Finance.
It is easy to feel inspired by such a pioneering self-made entrepreneur that not only has worked on her own career but has dedicated her knowledge to helping others.
A motto the Moroccan businesswoman lives by reads: “We don’t build businesses, we build people and then people build businesses.” This way of thinking has impacted her leadership style and led her to this success story.
