Rabat – The Touring Bike Association Souss Massa is calling on the Foreign Affairs Ministry to intervene to resolve the case of two missing bikers who were last spotted in Burkina Faso.
In a statement posted on social media, the biking association wrote: “Two Moroccan bikers, Abd al-Rahman al-Sarhani and his companion Idriss Fitaihi, have gone missing in Burkina Faso for over a month.”
“We ask the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates to send a research note to Burkina Faso,” the statement adds.
The statement concluded with the association’s expression of sympathy with the missing bikers.
Attached to the post were a number of pictures showcasing the two missing bikers who were wearing the association’s jersey. The pictures further documented the bikers’ journey through Western Africa before they went missing.
The list of stops appearing in the pictures include Guerguerate, the land crossing point joining Morocco and Mauritania, and Gambia.
The post drew the sympathy of Moroccan social media users who joined the association in calling for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to issue a search warrant in Burkina Faso for the Moroccan nationals.
Several social media users have started using hashtags and sharing posts to bring awareness to the issue and gather any help they can find on online spaces.
