Rabat – Morocco World News (MWN) today celebrates its 12th anniversary since its creation in 2011, marking the birth of Morocco’s first go-to English news source. Born in a small New York apartment, MWN has grown to become the go-to source of reliable news about Morocco.
The MWN team is happy to celebrate our anniversary as a reminder of the company and team’s commitment towards MWN’s goals of being a reliable news source that produces international-grade English-language news on everything related to Morocco.
Created by two brothers, Samir and Adnane Bennis, the news outlet prides itself on reflecting Morocco’s perspective in key topics from the economy and social and political issues to lifestyle, technology and cultural diversity.
With three offices, in Rabat, Fez and Washington DC, MWN prides itself on its independence, its variety of featured opinions, and its role as a hub for the Anglophone community within Morocco and its vast diaspora.
MWN is also committed to providing its loyal readers with current affairs reporting in understandable language, with an emphasis on details, balance and insights in line with international journalistic standards.
Teamwork
Morocco World News has long invested in, and continues to believe in, youth and their inclusion in the job market, providing opportunities to young and talented journalists and news writers, who team up with a group of experienced editors and analysts to contribute to the website’s input.
It has also been an honor and pride to emphasize that over 70% of our team is made up of some of Morocco’s talented young female journalists.
Our team’s unique makeup comes from its diversity, as our offices host team members from Morocco as well as different other countries in Europe, Africa, and the Americas.
Beyond web content
Morocco World News is proud to see its audience and visibility continue to grow, not only in Morocco but across the world.
In the past five years alone, MWN’s loyal readership consumed 71.3 million articles, serving 25.7 million readers across the world. This comes in addition to the millions of engagements on all our popular social platforms, managed by a group of talented graphic designers and photo journalists that work tirelessly to present astonishing and colorful visuals and art work.
Adnane Bennis, one of the co-founders of Morocco World News, has stressed the company’s vision to continue to work hard to convey to the world a much needed view into Morocco’s perspective.
“Seeing how young Moroccans are embracing English, and hearing from people who have grown up with MWN as their main source of news, I feel blessed and committed to continue to produce high quality content and contribute to Morocco’s shift from French to English,” he said in celebration of our website’s 12th birthday.
As it marks 12 years of dedication to telling Morocco’s stories to English-speaking Moroccans and foreigners interested in Morocco, the MWN team would like to extend its gratitude to the millions of readers that have contributed and continue to contribute to our success. The anniversary also presents an opportunity for us to promise our readers to continue providing you with relevant, up-to-date, and unique Moroccan news reporting and analysis.
