Rabat – Moroccan football club Wydad Casablanca is set to compete in the highly anticipated FIFA Club World Cup scheduled to be held in the United States in 2025.
The FIFA Council convened today via videoconference and unanimously designated the United States as the host nation for the FIFA Club World Cup, which will feature an expanded format of 32 teams.
FIFA’s choice of the United States as the host was primarily influenced by the country’s reputation for successfully organizing global sporting events. The decision was motivated by various factors, including the United States’ infrastructure, service capabilities, and overarching strategic goals for the tournament, FIFA explained in a statement.

World football’s governing body noted that it will engage with relevant stakeholders to finalize crucial details such as the tournament dates, venues, and match schedule for this highly anticipated new competition.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino expressed his enthusiasm, highlighting that the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 would epitomize the pinnacle of elite professional men’s club football.
“The FIFA Club World Cup 2025 will be the pinnacle of elite professional men’s club football, and with the required infrastructure in place together with a massive local interest, the United States is the ideal host to kick off this new, global tournament,” Infantino said.

The inaugural edition of the expanded 2025 tournament will see participation from clubs representing all six continents.
Among the confirmed clubs that will be partaking in this prestigious event are Wydad Casablanca, Wydad Casablanca, Saudi Club Al Hilal, Egypt’s Al Ahly, Mexico’s Monterrey, American club Seattle Sounders, Brazil’s Palmeiras and Flamengo, Real Madrid, and Chelsea FC.
Additionally, the FIFA Council reached a consensus to postpone the formal launch of the bidding process for the FIFA World Cup 2030, prioritizing the inclusion of all key stakeholders in the decision-making process through comprehensive consultations.
Morocco played host to the FIFA Club World Cup in 2023, a tournament lauded for its successful execution.
President Gianni Infantino commended Morocco’s commendable efforts in mobilizing the necessary resources and means to ensure the smooth hosting of the Club World Cup, cementing the country’s reputation as a capable and dedicated sporting host.
