Rabat – Marrakech has emerged as a prominent digital nomad destination, ranking as the second most attractive destination for digital nomads in Africa.
According to a report from Resume.io, a leading online resume builder, Cape Town in South Africa takes the lead with its high activity of digital nomads on Instagram, Marrakech claims the second spot on the continent.
In a comprehensive analysis of thousands of Instagram posts with the hashtag #digitalnomad, the Resume.io report sheds light on the current trends and popular work locations of today’s remote workforce.
In particular, the report explains that in the wake of the global pandemic, digital nomad culture has been experiencing a renaissance as remote workers search for new and exciting locations to work from.
The study examined Instagram posts while ensuring that spam accounts and bots were excluded from the dataset. By analyzing geotag information and mentions of countries in the post captions, researchers were able to determine the preferred locations of digital nomads.
The findings of the analysis highlighted several key destinations that have become magnets for digital nomads around the world. London has firmly established itself as the global hub for digital nomads in Europe and beyond, with an impressive 20,556 Instagram posts under the hashtag #digitalnomad.
Remote workers are drawn to Marrakech by its consistent but average internet connectivity, availability of co-working spaces, and vibrant street art scene.
The report further explains that despite occasional challenges like load shedding, and temporary power outages, Marrakech offers an attractive lifestyle at an affordable cost.
