Rabat – First Lady of the United States of America Jill Biden, arrived in Marrakech on Saturday afternoon, commencing her visit to Morocco. 

As she stepped off the plane at Marrakech-Menara airport, Jill Biden was greeted by a distinguished reception party, including Princess Lalla Hasnaa, according to converging reports.

Princess Lalla Hasnaa and the First Lady were then greeted by several esteemed figures, including Karim Kassi-Lahlou, Wali of the Marrakech-Safi region and Governor of the Marrakech Prefecture, as well as Marrakech Communal Council President Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri, and Regional Council President Samir Koudar.

Following the welcoming party, the First Lady was invited to a traditional reception. Jill Biden is visiting Morocco with her daughter, Ashley Biden, and her sister, Bobby Jacobs.

Jill Biden’s visit to Morocco is part of a six-day trip to the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe, where she will focus on promoting women and youth empowerment.

As part of her tour, Biden visited the capital of Jordan, Amman, where she attended the wedding of Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II and Rajwa Khalid Alseif, an architect, on June 1. 

While in Egypt and Morocco, Jill Biden will engage in activities aiming to promote women and youth empowerment, with a focus on US investment that supports educational initiatives and endeavors aimed at enhancing economic opportunities.

In Portugal, the first lady will take part in the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the US State Department’s Art in Embassies program, in recognition of the role that arts can play in diplomatic efforts.
