Rabat – AEK Athens’ Nordin Amrabat attended yesterday’s Europa League Conference final between Fiorentina and West Ham, where he talked about his brother’s future, Sofyan Amrabat.
According to him, the Moroccan midfielder is aiming high and could evolve in Spain.
Commenting on rumors that Sofyan would go to the English Premier League, especially a club in London, Nordin told ESPN: “Sofyan to West Ham? No, he wants to go to the top and his desire is to play in Spain.”
“At Barcelona, he is high on the list but you know Barca’s financial situation,” he added.
The ex-Atlas Lion discussed other possibilities in La Liga, highlighting that “there are other interested clubs too (in Spain).” According to information from Marca, Atletico de Madrid is also in the race to sign Sofyan.
In an interview for the same Spanish sports outlet last January, Sofyan Amrabat declared his admiration for Diego Simeone’s footballing philosophy and his teams’ playing style.
“What Simeone does, what he achieved… He coached Atletico de Madrid for many years. I like his style of play. The players on his team are physically strong and aggressive. I like to play this way,” said the midfielder.

When asked to comment on news about Manchester United’s manager Erik Ten Hag’s interest in signing Sofyan, Nordin argued that the Manchester United manager has indeed been “charmed” by the Fiorentina midfielder.
“My brother now has the intention to play in the top, preferably in Spain or England, I think,” Nordin said.
“Ten Hag is now looking for a striker, he wants that first. From there he will see what is possible,” he went on to explain, highlighting Ten Hag’s interest in Sofyan and describing the pair’s relationship as “good.”
As for Sofyan himself, it would be “nice” to play in the Premier League. Speaking earlier this week, ahead of the Europa Conference League final between Fiorentina and West Ham United, Sofyan said: “Of course, the Premier League is a fantastic league, one of the strongest in the world. Of course, in England the intensity is very high, so I think it could suit me.”
