Rabat – Biocodex Morocco Institute will organize on June 27 a scientific conference dedicated to microbiota and its significance for human health, coinciding with World Microbiome Day.
The conference aims to shed light on the integral role of microbiota in our health and well-being, as well as underline the importance of nurturing and maintaining a microbial balance within our bodies, indicated Biocodex Morocco in a press release.
The event, which will take place at the Grand Hotel Mogador, will bring together scientists, healthcare professionals, and enthusiasts interested in learning about the world of microbiota and its profound impact on human health.
Providing a definition of microbiota, the statement said it is “the collection of microorganisms that have colonized your body and coexist with you.” It mainly consists of bacteria, but also includes viruses, yeast, and fungi.
The composition of microbiota differs depending on the surface it inhabits, including the skin, respiratory tract, the intestines, among others.
The statement further explained other related concepts, providing a sneak-peak into the upcoming event.

In particular, it explained that “intestinal flora,” scientifically known as the “intestinal microbiota” is composed of trillions of microorganisms that populate human intestines, such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, and even parasites.
The press release highlighted the various benefits of intestinal microbiota, including facilitating digestion, acting as a barrier against toxins, and playing a “defensive role” in the development of the immune system.
Another key concept that the conference will discuss is “dysbiosis,” an imbalance in the microbiota and its interactions with our bodies.
The event will also address the impact of antibiotics on microbiota, which can disturb its balance and lead to potential health issues.
The organizers hope that the conference will pave the way for further research and advancements in probiotics, unlocking new possibilities for promoting good health and preventing diseases associated with microbiota imbalances.
