Rabat – Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech’s highly anticipated £8 million move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr has come to an unexpected halt, dealing a blow to the player’s aspirations for a new chapter in his career.

The transfer deal between Ziyech and Al-Nassr collapsed after the parties failed to reach an agreement on the final terms of a three-year contract, according to a report by Completesports.com.

Sources within Al-Nassr have disclosed that the collapse of negotiations to sign the Moroccan player has left the club disappointed and eager to find a resolution. Reports suggest that the breakdown was primarily due to disagreements over the financial aspects of the deal.

It remains uncertain whether Al-Nassr will revive their interest in Ziyech later in the ongoing summer transfer window. The recent setback adds to the growing uncertainty surrounding Ziyech’s future as he finds himself surplus to requirements at Chelsea, his current club.

With the upcoming pre-season looming, Mauricio Pochettino’s squad is preparing for the new campaign without the talented Moroccan winger. The failed move to Al-Nassr only exacerbates the uncertainty surrounding Ziyech’s career trajectory.

The 28-year-old winger joined Chelsea from Ajax in 2020 for a significant fee of £33 million. However, Ziyech struggled to secure a regular starting position, featuring in only 24 matches last season, with the majority of his playing time coming off the bench.

Despite his limited opportunities, Ziyech still has two years remaining on his contract with the London-based club.

This recent collapse is not the first time Ziyech’s potential transfer has fallen through. In January this year, a loan move to Paris Saint-Germain also failed to materialize after Chelsea missed the deadline for sending PSG the transfer paperwork. According to reports, Chelsea is actively seeking alternative clubs as potential destinations for the talented Moroccan.
