Rabat – Morocco’s Atlas Lions will face Burkina Faso in a friendly match in France on September 12, according to a press release by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF).

The match will be played at the Polar Dulles stadium in the French city of Lens at 7:30 p.m. Moroccan time.

Morocco recently recorded a goalless draw against Cape Verde on June 12 in the Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.

They also lost their AFCON qualifier game to South Africa by 2-1 on June 17 at the FNB Stadium in the South African city of Johannesburg.

“AFCON is one of the biggest and toughest competitions, necessitating thorough preparation,” Moroccan head coach Walid Regragui said following the game against Cape Verde.

He also stressed that the match against South Africa would enhance his team’s performance during AFCON.

Morocco currently ranks 13th in the FIFA World Ranking, having dropped two spots from its previous ranking of 11th.

The Atlas Lions continue to lead African countries with 1655.5 points, ahead of Senegal, which is in 18th place with 1612.61 points.

The national team also maintains a lead over Tunisia, who are currently ranked third in the Arab world with 1516.66 points.
