Rabat – Rachid Mansouri, the parliamentary representative for the Dmanat Azilal constituency, has submitted an urgent written query to the government, calling for swift action and a comprehensive strategy to curb the escalating toll of road-related tragedies and prevent further loss of lives on the roads.

The news comes a week after a tragic road accident claimed the life of 24 individuals in the Aghchane crossroads in the Azilal region.

The tragedy has prompted Mansouri to raise critical questions about the current state of road safety measures and infrastructure in both rural and mountainous areas.

In his address to the government, Mansouri said, “The recent tragic road accident in the Azilal region, which claimed the lives of 24 people, raises serious questions about the escalating toll of road-related fatalities.”

According to the MP, the news should “compel” the government to delve into the state of road infrastructure, particularly in rural and mountainous areas, which are “characterized by challenging terrains and rugged paths, exacerbated by inadequate signage and protective barriers.”

“The scarcity of suitable transportation options in these regions further amplifies the potential for grievous accidents leading to further loss of lives,” he explained.

Through the query, Mansouri called on the government to disclose the strategies and measures that it intends to implement to address the growing issue of road accidents.

In addition, he called for a comprehensive plan to improve the conditions of various roads and pathways in rural and mountainous territories, aiming to enhance road safety standards and mitigate potential risks.
