Rabat – In a pre-match conference, Morocco’s French coach Reynald Pedros said that the match against Colombia on August 3 will be open, and that his players are ready to fight to the bitter end, hoping to spring a surprise.
“The match against Colombia will be open to all scenarios, and the players are determined to spring a surprise,” Pedros declared in the pre-match conference.
The women’s national football team will play a decisive match against Colombia on August 3 at Perth Rectangular Stadium at 11 a.m. Moroccan Time.
Morocco caught up with the tournament events and revived their chances to qualify to the round of 16 by defeating South Korea 1-0. Yet, their win against Colombia remains a must while Germany must also lose or tie against South Korea for Morocco to advance.
However, Pedros firmly believes in his team’s abilities as he said in the pre-match conference that “we need to put aside our lack of experience and turn it into a desire to win to earn the six points in our group.”
He went on to say that “we performed exceptionally well against South Korea, and we intend to continue in the same vein.”
Colombia has one of the “best” attacking lines at the 2023 World Cup, as they won both of their previous matches against South Korea 2-0 and Germany 2-1.
In this regard, Pedros urged the need to maintain a defensive effort to give the Colombian players as little room as possible.
“I don’t think we should focus too much on the individual qualities of certain Colombian players,” Pedros stated, providing that “we need to react as a team and try to give these players as little space as possible to develop their game. It’s up to us to do what’s necessary, but collectively.”
Pedros also believed that his team must be more aggressive in midfield and effective in all of the game’s scenarios to be able to compete with the Colombian team.
