Rabat – To mark Throne Day celebrations, several cities around the world have paid tribute to Morocco and King Mohammed VI on the occasion, which was celebrated on July 30.
The city of London, in particular, paid tribute to King Mohammed VI and the Moroccan people by projecting the green and red colors of the Moroccan flag onto one of its buildings.
This tribute was passed forward by the Moroccan Embassy in the UK on social media.
”London shines bright in the colours of Morocco as we celebrate Throne Day,” the diplomatic representation posted.
The building in question is one of the city’s most emblematic hotels, the 120-year-old Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, formerly the Hyde Park Hotel.
The hotel is located in the center of Knightsbridge and on the edge of Hyde Park. One of its many distinctive features is its royal entrance, originally reserved exclusively for members of the British royal family.
In the Canadian capital Ottawa, the Edmonton Bridge was lit up in the colors of the Moroccan flag and posted on the Moroccan embassy’s account.
In addition, the residence of the Kingdom of Morocco in Ottawa-Gatineau was also illuminated with the Moroccan colors.
The Moroccan flag colors also spectacularly shone at Niagara Falls in the city of Ontario.
The Throne Day, which commemorates the King’s ascension to the throne, is observed on July 30 of each year.
Typically, celebrations take place across the country’s many regions and are joined by other royal actions like pardons.
On Monday, the King also presided over an oath-taking ceremony of new officers and graduates of military, paramilitary, and civil schools.
On the same day, he chaired an allegiance ceremony in Tetouan’s Mechouar Square.
