Rabat – Mohamed Chibi, a player for Egypt’s Pyramids FC testified in the New Cairo Court on Monday on his complaint against Hussein El-Shahat, a player from rivals Al Ahly.

According to a report from El-Botola, Chibi attended the court accompanied by three lawyers and Pyramids FC officials and provided a detailed account of the incident, expressing his determination to pursue the case.

El-Shahat is expected to appear in court for questioning and may face charges related to assault, insult, defamation, intimidation, threats, and thuggery.

The Al Ahly player allegedly slapped Chibi while he was celebrating with his teammates after Pyramids FC’s triumphant 3-0 victory over Al Ahly.

Last month, Chibi shared details about the troubling incident on his social media platforms.

During a match, El-Shahat physically assaulted Chibi and made threatening remarks, leading to outrage among football fans.

Chibi revealed in an interview with El-Botola the unsettling events that occurred, including the physical attack and the threat of a leg injury.

In addition, El-Shahat’s use of derogatory language targeting Chibi’s religion and parents intensified the seriousness of the situation.

Following the match, Chibi, who had previously traveled to Saudi Arabia for Umrah, returned to Egypt upon learning of the punishment imposed on El-Shahat by the Egyptian Football Association. He stated his intention to pursue legal action against the Al-Ahly player.

In response to the incident, the Egyptian Professional Football Association suspended El-Shahat for two matches and fined him 20,000 Egyptian pounds for his unsporting behavior towards the Moroccan footballer.
