Rabat – Real Madrid is setting its sights on Morocco’s Yassine Bounou, who is reported to be among the top three candidates to replace Courtois, whose injury is set to leave him out for the most part of the season.
Thibaut Courtois, Real Madrid’s superstar goalkeeper, left the training session after sustaining a serious injury, reports said, suggesting that the potential ACL injury is set to leave him on the bench for the entire season.
This made Real Madrid frustrated over the upcoming season, prompting the LaLiga champions to start their search to find a replacement.
Several reports suggested that Bounou is one of the superstars that could fit as a replacement for Courtois.
Managing Madrid, a Real Madrid community reported today that Sevilla’s Bono is one of the main candidates on Real Madrid’s radar.
Many internet users have commented on the news, seeing Morocco’s goalkeeper Yassine Bounou a perfect fit to replace Courtois.
“Bono is better than Courtois bringing him,” one wrote.
Another commenter said that he prefers Madrid to sign Bono, but added he doubts whether the deal will happen amid reports that the Spanish club is set to announce De Gea as a replacement.
Others suspected a move from Bounou to the club as Real Madrid will need him for the full season. Bono’s commitment with Morocco’s national team will make it tough for the Atlas Lion — who will definitely be part of Walid Regragui’s main lineup for the Africa Cup of Nations finals.
Bounou is one of the key football players for Morocco’s national team, contributing to the squad’s historic run at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar 2022.
It remains to be seen whether Real Madrid’s offer will be confirmed as many other reports have recently indicated a potential Bono move to Bayern Munich.
Last month, Sports news outlet Bavarian Football Works quoted Bono as saying that he was open to joining the German club, who are reportedly keen to hire him as a number 2 behind Manuel Neuer.
But many Moroccan fans believe that the Atlas Lion should maintain his status as number 1 in any club he is joining in the future.
Bono is good enough to be the starting goalkeeper in any elite European club, the player’s admirers have said, recalling his outstanding career, namely eye-catching performances during the World Cup and his constant heroics with Sevilla over the past three seasons.
