Rabat – Morocco’s U23 national team is set to lock horns with its Brazilian counterparts today in a friendly game.
The match will kick off at 8:00 PM GMT+1 at the Fez Sports Complex. It will be broadcast live on the Moroccan channel Arryadia.
Following today’s much-anticipated game, the Atlas Lions will once again face Brazil’s U23 team on September 11 in Fez in another friendly.
The friendly games are part of Morocco’s preparations for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
The tournament, set to run from July 26 to August 11, 2024, will mark Morocco’s return to Olympic football after the national team’s last appearance on the Olympic stage in 2012.
On the other hand, the Brazilian U23 national team, reigning Olympic champions since their victory at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, will bring their strong international reputation into these upcoming friendlies, promising exciting matchups.
Morocco’s U23 team has recently enjoyed a series of victories, highlighted by their historic win in the African U23 Cup of Nations.
In an exciting final, Morocco triumphed over Egypt’s Pharaohs with a score of 2-1 at Rabat’s Moulay Abdellah Complex in July. This victory marked a significant milestone as it was the first time Morocco claimed the tournament’s title.
The match remained deadlocked at 1-1 after the regular playing time, but it was during the extra time that Morocco secured their winning goal through Oussama Targhalline.
In addition to Morocco, Egypt and Mali have also booked their tickets to the Olympic Games following their performances in the U-23 AFCON.
