Rabat – The Moroccan national football team’s head coach Walid Regragui will hold a press conference on September 8, before the match against Liberia as part of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The press conference will take place on Friday at 6:15 p.m. Moroccan Time in the conference room of Agadir’s Grand Stadium, where the match is set to be played.
On the other hand, Liberian coach Ansumana Keita will hold a press conference at 11 a.m. on the same day and at the same venue.
The match will take place on September 9 in Agadir before the team heads to Lens in France to face off against Burkina Faso in a friendly on September 12.
On August 31, Regragui announced the list of players called up to take part in the national team’s upcoming games.
Yassine Bounou, Munir El Kajoui, Youssef El Motie, and El Mehdi Benabid were the goalkeepers called up to the squad.
In defense, Regragui named Achraf Hakimi, Nayef Aguerd, Ghanem Saiss, and Noussair Mazraoui.
Other players who will help in Morocco’s defensive line are Yahya Attiatallah, Jawad El Yamiq, Yunis Abdelhamid, and Abdelkabir Abqar.
In midfield Sofyan Amrabat, Selim Amallah, Azzedine Ounahi, and Bilal El Khannouss were called up, alongside Amir Richardson, Benjamin Bouchouari, and Ismael Saibari.
As for forwards, Regragui called on Amine Harit, Abdessamad Ezzalzouli, Zakaria Aboukhlal, and Youssef En-Nesyri.
Other players in the same position include Walid Cheddira, Abderrazak Hamedallah, Ibrahim Salah, Amine Adli, and Ayoub El Kaabi.
However, the absence of Hakim Ziyech has raised concerns among Moroccan fans, with the coach stressing that there will be other changes in the list as the AFCON tournament approaches.
“Hakim is a player I trust, and this is an opportunity for him to prepare well for his start with Galatasaray,” Regragui told the media during the press conference.
