Rabat – Huawei Cloud announced the launch of its brand-new platform “Huawei Cloud Riyadh Region” in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday.
Unveiled at the “Huawei Cloud Summit Saudi Arabia 2023,” the services will “significantly contribute to supporting Saudi Arabia’s economic growth, primarily focused on digital transformation,” Huawei said in a statement.
The choice to establish “Huawei Cloud Riyadh Region” in Saudi Arabia is not arbitrary, the company says, explaining that the country is central to Huawei Cloud’s strategy in the Middle East, Central Asia, and Africa.
Huawei Cloud, which provides “innovative, reliable, secure, and sustainable cloud services to clients worldwide, steadfastly supports Saudi Arabia’s ‘Vision 2030’ and all the ambitious goals this country has for technological advancement, leadership, and innovation.”
Commenting on the launch of the platform in his country, Haitham bin Abdul Rahman Al-Ohali, Vice Minister at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) in Saudi Arabia, stated: “For us, Huawei is a key partner that significantly contributes to the technological progress of the Kingdom.”
Al-Ohali continued that “Huawei has continuously worked with the Saudi government, as well as various service providers, businesses, and universities, becoming an integral part of the national collective effort toward digital transformation in our country.”
“We believe that ‘Huawei Cloud Riyadh Region’ will have a transformative impact on our digital ecosystem, creating new opportunities for innovation and growth,” he added.
“Huawei Cloud Riyadh Region” offers several advantages to its clients. The platform leverages Huawei’s global expertise in digital transformation and industrial excellence.
Located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, it features an advanced architecture designed in a 3AZ (availability zone) configuration, which enables it to provide highly available and secure cloud services while ensuring optimal performance for various service categories.
In addition, the platform is capable of delivering end-to-end cloud services, including infrastructure, databases, containers, big data, and AI services, meeting the needs of diverse sectors.
Based on 3-AZ architecture allows the platform to achieve low latency, making it compatible with all Saudi Arabian operator networks (STC, Zain, and Mobily).
Its data center ensures localized data storage in compliance with Saudi regulations for data processing and usage. As part of the deployment of its new platform, Huawei will also launch a total of 68 new cloud services in three different categories: Data, AI, and native cloud.
Steven Yi, Senior Vice President of Huawei and President of the Huawei Middle East and Central Asia region, said: “I have experienced many unforgettable moments in this extraordinary country, Saudi Arabia.”
“Just yesterday, while walking in the newly renovated Diriyah district, I couldn’t help but feel deeply moved. It reminded me of an old Chinese saying, ‘Build the right nest, and the phoenix will come.’ The moral behind this saying is clear: Create a welcoming environment, and you will attract the best. This is undeniably true for Saudi Arabia, a country that consistently attracts top investors,” he commented on the launch of the service.
On her part, Jacqueline Shi, President of Global Marketing and Sales for Huawei Cloud, said: “Huawei Cloud aims high: it targets the world and targets Saudi Arabia. This country is essential for the deployment of our strategy in the Middle East, Central Asia, and Africa.”
Shi further explained that the service plays a “crucial role in enabling us to continue providing innovative, reliable, secure, and sustainable cloud services to all these regions.”
The company explains that Huawei Cloud will employ several cutting-edge technologies to advance intelligence in Saudi Arabia.
Among the technologies to be used is the renowned Pangu 3.0 model, which facilitates the utilization of AI’s myriad possibilities in areas such as finance, government decisions, industry, and more.
The Pangu 3.0 model will usher in “a new era” of innovation in Saudi Arabia and significantly contribute to the Kingdom’s exponential economic diversification.
During the “Huawei Cloud Summit Saudi Arabia” 2023, Huawei also unveiled its new plan “Saudi Arabia Go Cloud Go Global,” which aims to connect Chinese and Saudi businesses.
Huawei operates in more than 170 countries and regions, offering a wide range of advanced technological solutions to its customers. Today, Huawei aims to help Chinese companies strengthen their partnerships with significant local players in Saudi Arabia.
During the event, the company also announced that Huawei Cloud will train 200,000 developers in Saudi Arabia over the next five years. In addition, it plans to develop joint solutions with 1,000 local partners and launch its Huawei Cloud Entrepreneurship Program, which will support up to 2,000 startups in their development.
