Rabat – Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi contributed to Paris Saint-Germain’s (PSG) 4-1 victory over Olympique Lyonnais (OL) on Sunday, as part of matchday four of the French Ligue 1.
The Atlas Lion scored the second goal in the 20th minute of the first half, after Kylian Mbappe had opened the scoring for PSG from a penalty kick four minutes into the game.
The third goal was scored by Marco Asensio in the 38th minute, before Mbappe returned the nine minutes later with a final goal of the match for PSG.
OL, the hosts, managed to reduce the margin through Corentin Tolisso’s 74th-minute penalty kick.
PSG are now second in the Ligue 1 standings with eight points, behind Monaco. Meanwhile, Lyon are bottom of the table with just one point.
“We played a great game. We can go back to our national teams in peace. I’m happy with my performance, and I’m applying the things the coach asks me to do to help the team,” Hakimi declared after the match.
Hakimi was nominated today to the Team of the Year by the French media outlet L’Equipe after the performance against OL.
Alongside the Moroccan defender come four other PSG players also nominated in the team, namely Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, Brazilian defender Marquinhos, French forward Kylian Mbappe, and Spanish winger Marco Asensio.
