Rabat – The Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) is partnering with Transavia, a subsidiary of the Air France-KLM Group, to increase air travel offerings from France starting this winter 2023.

According to a statement, the partnership is “strategic” as it includes the revival of the Paris-Dakhla route, which was launched in 2018 but was later suspended due to the COVID-19 crisis.

With the support of ONMT, Transavia will not only resume the connection but also double the number of weekly flights on the route. Flights will be operated on Mondays and Fridays to encourage four-day weekend getaways, the statement explains.

The statement adds that the inaugural flight took place on Monday at 1 PM with Transavia CEO Olivier Mazzucchelli on board.

He was welcomed at Dakhla Oued Eddahab Airport by Adel El Fakir, General Director of ONMT, and representatives from Dakhla’s Regional Tourism Council.

The airline is also set to launch a new direct route, Paris-Errachidia, with flights scheduled once a week on Sundays.

The agreement also covers the strengthening of air travel offerings to Marrakech from France through the launch of the new direct routes linking Marrakech with Rennes and Brest.

The new ONMT-Transavia partnership will allow for an increase of over 252,000 seats to Morocco from France during the winter season of 2023-2024, 39% up compared to the winter of 2022-2023.

In addition to the air routes established through the partnership, the airline will provide over 206,000 seats, bringing the total capacity to 458,500 seats, the statement adds.
