Rabat – Moroccan footballer Abdessamad Ezzalzouli made it to FIFA’s list of the top 5 players to watch during the CAF World Cup qualifiers.
Last week, FIFA published a list outlining some of the exciting young African breakouts who have been showing their skills and talent at national and international stages.
Describing Ezzalzouli as a “fast, skilful and two-footed, electric winger,” FIFA recalled the player’s history with some of Spain’s biggest clubs, including FC Barcelona and Osasuna.
Currently playing with Real Betis, the Atlas Lion is also a key component of Morocco’s national teams, both in the first team and the U23 squad.
“His form was rewarded with a place in Morocco’s 26-player Qatar 2022 squad, where a dream run saw the Atlas Lions reach the semi-finals,” FIFA wrote.
In addition to his appearances with Morocco during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Ezzalzouli was also part of the U23 squad that won the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
“Ezzalzouli captained Morocco when they triumphed at the CAF U-23 Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year,” football’s international governing body wrote, noting that the winger scored three goals and assisted three more to clinch the victory as well as a well-deserved qualification for the 2024 Olympic Games.
Other footballers who featured in the top five include Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Gift Orban, Pape Matar Sarr and Abakar Sylla.
