Rabat – The World Benchmarking Alliance (WBA) has ranked Moroccan phosphate giant OCP Group in first place in their 2023 benchmark for agricultural input companies.
The WBA, a global corporate benchmarking initiative, also ranked OCP an impressive fourth after Unilever, Nestle and Danone in the broader global agricultural and food industry.
The methodology used by WBA includes 46 indicators distributed across four measurement areas of governance and strategy, environment, nutrition, and social inclusion.
This recognition is not a one-time feat, as OCP Group has consistently held top positions in similar rankings since 2021.
“The ranking encompasses companies active in the agricultural input, agricultural products and commodities, animal protein, processing and manufacturing, retail and food service segments,” said the WBA.
OCP Group’s environmental stewardship has also been applauded in the WBA’s newly launched Nature Benchmark.
The company ranked as eighth out of 380 companies globally and secured the third position among 44 peers in the agricultural input industry. The WBA specifically highlighted OCP Group’s significant contributions to reducing carbon emissions and pioneering the use of non-conventional water sources.
Central to OCP Group’s vision for a sustainable future is its $13 billion Green Investment Program, which aims to achieve full carbon neutrality by 2040, water self-sufficiency by 2024, and sourcing 100% of electricity needs from renewables by 2027.
Simultaneously, OCP Group is ramping up production of green fertilizers to help ensure global food security while minimizing environmental impact.
