Rabat – Israeli forces surrounded a number of hospitals in the West Bank and launched a new major raid on the Jenin refugee camp overnight and into Friday morning.
Al Jazeera reported that the raid lasted several hours and left at least 14 injured, with three people killed in drone strikes on the camp, according to Palestinian authorities.
The Israeli army, meanwhile, said that five were killed in the drone strikes.
The Israeli forces also prevented emergency services from entering the area and reaching injured victims, according to Palestinian news agency Wafa.
Eighty military vehicles, accompanied with bulldozers, raided the area overnight on Thursday, damaging roads and cars in the process, Al Jazeera reported.
At the same time, Israeli soldiers and military vehicles also surrounded at least four hospitals in the West Bank, including the Ibn Sina Hospital, one of the largest in the region.
Video footage showed Israeli forces demand the evacuation of the hospital’s staff, asking them to keep their hands in the air as they exited the facilities.
The Israeli military claimed that it had exchanged fire with Palestinian fighters who used ambulances to flee, and that one of them was arrested at the entrance of the medical facility.
The West Bank has witnessed escalating tensions and violence over the past month as Israel continues its genocidal campaign in Gaza. Since October 7, Israel has killed at least 11,500 Palestinians in its murderous campaign in the besieged strip, and injured 29,000 others.
The death toll includes thousands of children, women, and elderly people, who were targeted in schools, hospitals, and places of worship.
As the violence continues, Israel and its key allies in the West have repeatedly rejected growing international calls for a ceasefire.
