Rabat – A building under construction collapsed on the morning of Monday near the Aklou gate in the center of Tiznit city.
Initial reports indicated that the incident left three injured, who were transferred to the Regional Hospital Hassan I.
According to reports, the building consisted of three floors and collapsed. The exact circumstances of the accident remain unknown.
The identity of the injured is yet to be identified, and rescue teams have begun digging under the debris for other potential victims.
Following the incident, a number of officials visited the demolished building to investigate the incident. The officials included the Secretary-General of the Tiznit Province, along with officials from various security agencies.
Meanwhile, the Regional Delegate of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection headed to the emergency department of the regional hospital to inspect the injured individuals.
Images circulating online show that the massive building was surrounded by a protective metal wall when the building within collapsed.
Only half of the structure collapsed while the other half seems to remain standing.
