Rabat – Moroccan international footballer Achraf Hakimi said at a press conference on November 20 that the match against Tanzania would be a tough one because African football has changed a lot.
Achraf Hakimi believes that the upcoming matches the Atlas Lions are set to play in Africa will be difficult, given the climatic conditions and a number of parameters that have changed compared to European matches.
He also indicated that the national team arrived in Tanzania four days before their match against the hosting team, in order to adapt to the climate and discover more about the pitch on which they will play this match.
“African soccer has changed a lot, and all the matches have become difficult,” Hakimi said, noting that “it is good that we came here just a few days before the match.”
“It’s going to help us prepare well for this meeting, especially as we’re getting ready to play in an African Cup,” he added.
The international right-back went on to say that the matches the players play in Europe “are totally different.”
While Morocco’s first match against Eritrea was canceled, the Atlas Lions will still face Tanzania on November 21 at the Benjamin Mkaba national stadium, at 8:00 p.m. Moroccan Time.
Tanzania, on the other hand, had beaten Niger 1-0 in the first round.
Competing in the same group alongside Morocco and Tanzania are Niger, Zambia, and Congo.
A few days ahead of the Morocco-Tanzania game, Moroccan striker Ayoub El Kaabi said that the training session is running in a “family and brotherly” spirit.
He also stated that all of the players are concentrating on their World Cup qualifying match against their Tanzanian opponents, even if they are aware of the challenging job that lies ahead of them.
