Rabat – Moroccan international footballer Youssef En-Nesyri has scored 25 goals in La Liga this year, earning the title of the league’s top scorer for the current calendar year.
En-Nesyri ranked ahead of Polish Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski who has 24 goals to his name.
Antoine Griezmann and Karim Benzema had 23 goals each.
These achievements have enabled the Moroccan striker to consolidate his position as an indispensable player for Sevilla FC, notably leading the club to its seventh Europa League title last season.
The Moroccan international is also reportedly on the radar of English club West Ham United, who made an official offer for the Moroccan earlier this year.
Towards the end of November, the 26-year-old managed to equal the number of La Liga goals scored by legend Larbi Benbarek, who held a record of 58 goals between 1948 and 1953. The two are the joint top Moroccan scorers in the history of the Spanish league.
In the Champions League, En-Nesyri has scored nine goals throughout his career, breaking the records previously held by Hakim Ziyech and former Moroccan player Marouane Chamakh, who have eight goals each.
Sevilla will face French club RC Lens today in the Champions League’s group stage sixth match day.
