Rabat – The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has stated that Morocco’s success in international football can be attributed to an integrated project, long-term planning, and persistent hard work.
In an article entitled “Five Reasons Behind the Moroccan Football Revolution,” CAF pointed out that Moroccan football is currently experiencing a historic moment.
The article recalled the Atlas Lions’ exploits in the most recent World Cup in Qatar, the Atlas Lionesses’ round of 16 appearance at the 2023 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, and the Moroccan U-17 squad’s quarter-final performance at the Indonesia 2023 World Cup.
It also featured the Moroccan U-23 team’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations championship and the country’s national futsal team’s 2023 Arab Futsal Cup victory.
Not only are these accomplishments unique to Morocco, but they are also the first of their kind in African and Arab history, according to CAF, deeming them “unprecedented achievements in record time.”
“Morocco’s successes in 2022 and 2023, not to mention the country’s successful bid to host the FIFA World Cup 2030 alongside Spain and Portugal, were no accident,” CAF stated.
The report went on to say that “all of this stems from a carefully constructed plan, which is now bearing fruits for Moroccan football and, with long-term sporting investment, will surely continue to do so in the future.”
In this respect, CAF brought up the Mohammed VI Football Academy’s role in fostering Moroccan national sport, pointing out that considering the Academy’s role in sports, the results have been remarkable.
Men’s and women’s national championships in Morocco have advanced significantly, according to CAF, which also highlighted the chance national coaches have to train, learn, gain experience, and manage national teams.
