Rabat – Ahead of the Morocco-Zambia game, which is part of matchday 3 of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations’ (AFCON) group stage, sports prediction platform Opta Analyst has predicted a 60.7% winning rate in favor of the Atlas Lions.

“Morocco have a 60.7% chance of victory in this game, compared to 18.5% for Zambia,” the platform stated on Tuesday.

Opta Analyst also predicted that Morocco has a 78.7% chance to take the lead of the Group F standings, while 11.4% is estimated for second place, 9.8% for third place, and 0% for fourth place.

The reason for which the platform attributed a null rate for fourth place is because Morocco’s position gives it the privilege to qualify regardless of today’s game’s result.

In case of a potential third-place position, which is regarded as the worst case scenario, Morocco will still remain as a favorite to qualify, with regard to the scores of other teams.

The Moroccan squad is now leading Group F with four points ahead of DR Congo with 2 points, Zambia (2 points), and Tanzania (1 point).

Given these outcomes, the prediction platform went on to estimate that Morocco’s qualification for the round of 16 stands at 100%, the quarter-finals (63.9%), the semi-finals (44.1%), and the finals (26.4%). In addition, the same source predicted that chances to add a second trophy to the Moroccan cabinet is at 15.2%.

Morocco had debuted this year’s tournament victoriously against Tanzania with a large 3-0 win, before they were set back by two-time former champion DR Congo by 1-1.
