Rabat – Morocco has officially joined the Integrated Industrial Coalition for Sustainable Economic Development, comprising the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Egypt, and Bahrain.
The formal agreement welcoming Morocco as a new member was signed on Thursday in Manama during the fourth Ministerial High-Level Meeting, announced the Moroccan Ministry of Industry and Trade in a press release.
Initiated in Abu Dhabi in May 2022, the Integrated Industrial Coalition serves as a collaborative framework among member countries to support sustainable economic development.
Its objectives include fostering economic growth, creating more investment opportunities in the region, integrating resources and industries, and enhancing the industrial sector’s contribution to the GDP of partner countries, according to the ministry’s statement.
The coalition aims to establish itself as a regional economic and industrial hub capable of addressing common challenges and global crises, while promoting economic sovereignty, particularly in vital sectors such as food, health, energy, and industry, added the statement.
During the ministerial high-level meeting, the Moroccan Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour emphasized that Morocco’s participation aligns with the “visionary approach” of King Mohammed VI, aiming to strengthen economic cooperation within the region and foster sustainable economic development for all members.
He added that Morocco’s inclusion “represents an opportunity to enhance the integration of our industries and further develop projects that generate growth and employment opportunities for our youth.”
The Ministry of Industry and Trade views Morocco’s accession to this industrial coalition as a qualitative step in regional growth and industrial integration. It argued that Morocco brings diverse natural resources, a skilled workforce, advanced infrastructure, and an extensive network of global partnerships.
In addition, the statement highlighted Morocco’s economic strengths and achievements in various industries such as the automobile sector, renewable energy, agro-industry, aerospace, textile, pharmaceuticals, electrical and electronic industries, as well as phosphates and mining.
