Rabat – Fabrizio Romano, a well-respected sports journalist known for reliable information on the football transfer market, has debunked rumors that Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech will leave his Turkish club Galatasaray.
The journalist took to X, formerly Twitter, to cite Ziyech’s agent as emphasizing that an exit from Galatarssay is not on the horizon for his client. “George Gardi [Ziyech’s agent] denies statement on Hakim Ziyech’s imminent January exit from Galatasaray,” Romano wrote today on X, quoting the agent as stressing: “I never made any statement on Ziyech.”
These rumors come in the midst of the winter transfer window, with some talking of a move to Saudi Arabia or AS Roma in Italy, while others have suggested that the player’s decision to leave his Turkish club was due to internal issues such as “delayed” payments.
Ziyech is among the players called up by Morocco’s head coach Walid Regragui for the upcoming AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire.
The tournament, which marks the 34th edition of this continental competition, is scheduled to run between January 13 and February 11.
In preparation for the big competition, the Moroccan national team held its first training session today in Morocco at the Mohammed VI Football Sports Complex in Maamoura..
On January 7, Morocco will take on The Gambia in a pre-tournament friendly. The Atlas Lions will then fly to the Ivory Coast to join Tanzania, DR Congo and Zambia in Group F before taking on some of the continent’s best in the later stages of the tournament.
