Rabat – The Round of 16 stage of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) today will see the Malian national football squad compete with its rival Burkina Faso at the Amadou Gon Coulibaly Stadium in Cote d’Ivoire.
The game is set to kick off at 6 p.m. Moroccan Time and will be streamed on beIN Sports Max 1 and beIN Sports Max 3.
During the group stage matches, Mali defeated South Africa 2-0 and drew with both Tunisia 1-1 and Namibia 0-0. These records granted Mali first place in Group E with five points, followed by South Africa.
In third place came Namibia with four points harnessed from a win over Tunisia 1-0, a loss to South Africa 0-4, and a draw with Mali 0-0.
Both Mali and Burkina Faso were once runners-up but never managed to lift a trophy for their nations. Their participation in the last AFCON saw Mali disqualified from the Round of 16 by Equatorial Guinea on penalty shootouts, while Burkina Faso made it all the way to the semi-finals to lose to Senegal 1-3.
