Rabat – The Moroccan Embassy in Abu Dhabi recently announced that individuals with a valid Emirates ID card, ensuring a legitimate residency in the UAE for at least 180 days, can now apply for a Moroccan electronic visa.
The announcement explains that the new provision aims to streamline the visa application process for those intending to travel to Morocco.
The electronic visa service is accessible through the digital platform eVisa. Morocco first introduced the electronic eVisa on July 10, 2022. The initiative has garnered praise for its efficiency and ease of use, enabling a smooth visa acquisition for certain foreign nationals subject to this requirement.
Morocco processed 160,000 applications by the end of 2022, issuing nearly 150,000 eVisas. The number of applications especially peaked in May 2023, with nearly 18,000 applications successfully handled.
The eVisa initiative reflects Morocco’s commitment to facilitating travel for foreign nationals while fostering a welcoming and hospitable environment.
With its 180-day validity, starting from the date of issuance, the single-entry eVisa allows holders to enjoy a short stay of up to 30 days in Moroccan territory.
