Rabat – Moroccan international footballer Hakim Ziyech has reportedly resumed training with his Turkish club Galatasaray after several weeks’ absence due to an ankle injury, according to Turkish media.
The 30-year-old player must be ready for Morocco’s upcoming training camp as well in March.
While Ziyech’s return brings a good omen for both Galatasaray and Morocco, Ziyech is said to be fully fit for the Turkish derby against Besiktas J.K. In addition, the Moroccan winger has resumed training ahead of the match, which takes place on March 3.
Turkish journalist Kaya Temel, who has strong connections with the Istanbul club, confirmed this information on his official X account (formerly Twitter), stating that Okan Buruk, head coach of Galatasaray, has already begun preparations with his squad.
Temel added that Ziyech and his teammates Serge Aurier and Ndombele are still receiving treatment and ought to be included in the March 3 game lineup. Therefore, Ziyech is expected to return for one of the most crucial Super Liga games for his team.
Galatasaray is currently leading the Super Liga standings with 72 points in 27 games played.
Since his injury, the Moroccan midfielder has not played a single match and missed his club’s last five league games.
Ziyech sustained his injury during the latest Africa Cup of Nations’ (AFCON) third group stage match against Zambia and was forced off the pitch. He suffered from a left ankle distortion.
His injury prevented him from playing in the Round of 16 match against South Africa, which witnessed Morocco’s early exit from the African tournament.
On March 22 and 26, the Moroccan national football team will play two friendly matches against Angola and Mauritania at the Adrar stadium in the southern city of Agadir.
The games come as part of Morocco’s preparations for the forthcoming competitions, namely the 2025 AFCON which will be held in Morocco and the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
