Doha – The Israeli National Security Council (NSC) has issued travel warnings to four countries with which Israel has diplomatic ties, urging its citizens to avoid traveling to Morocco, Turkey, Jordan, and Egypt, including the popular Sinai peninsula during the upcoming Passover holiday. The Israeli council stated that these destinations “should be especially avoided at this time.”
The warning comes amid growing concerns over attempts by global jihadist organizations to inspire lone attackers targeting Jews and Israelis abroad, more than five months after the start of the Gaza war.
The NSC highlighted Iran and its proxies as the primary threat, with Iranian agents reportedly impersonating other identities to make contact with Israelis in an attempt to abduct or harm them overseas.
In addition to the warnings for the four MENA countries, the NSC also cautioned Israelis traveling to Sweden in May for the Eurovision 2024 song contest, advising them to make efforts to conceal their identities.
The Times of Israel reported an Israeli official as stating: “We are not saying not to travel there, but those who travel should not display their Zionism. They shouldn’t walk around with little Israeli flags.”
The NSC announcement further noted that Jewish communities in Europe and North America “are also a major target” for the extreme right, “with religious and community institutions being a preferred target on holidays and festivals.” The official emphasized that “what has been published is just the tip of the iceberg,” referring to recent intercepted plots to kill Israelis in Cyprus, Greece, and Turkey.

Hamas has also been accused of trying to target Israelis and Jews abroad during the war, with a Hamas terror network in northern Europe “uncovered” in December 2023. “Dozens of such terror attempts to target Israelis and Jews have been foiled around the world in recent years,” the NSC added.
Last October, two weeks after launching its brutal Gaza campaign, Israel urged its citizens to immediately leave Egypt and Jordan, and avoid traveling to Morocco.
In Morocco, popular rejection of all forms of relations with Israel continues to escalate, with Moroccans taking to the streets in daily marches to urge the Moroccan government to drop “normalization” and expel the Israelis working in the liaison office in Rabat.
Moroccans are preparing to commemorate Land Day today in “support of the Palestinians’ right to reclaim their land” by organizing a popular march at 9:30 pm in Rabat.
A grim update from the Gaza Health Ministry indicates that the Palestinian death toll has climbed to a staggering 32,552, with the number of injured victims reaching 74,980 since the outbreak of the conflict on October 7.
This tragic escalation in casualties comes against the backdrop of the international community’s inability to effectively pressure Israel into ending its devastating war on the Palestinian people, even in the face of a United Nations resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire during the holy month of Ramadan.
