Doha – In a move of solidarity and support, the Royal Moroccan Air Force is set to begin airdropping food and humanitarian aid in northern Gaza today, as part of ongoing international efforts to alleviate the crisis in the region. This development was first reported on the “This Morning” program on KAN Reshet B, a radio station operated by the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation.

Six Hercules transport aircraft, laden with supplies, departed from Morocco this morning and are expected to land at Ben Gurion Airport for refueling. Barring any last-minute changes, they will then take off to airdrop food and humanitarian equipment in Gaza.

Morocco joins a growing list of countries that have already begun airdropping aid in the area, including Jordan, Egypt, the United States, France, Belgium, and the Netherlands. This Moroccan operation is being carried out under the directive of King Mohammed VI. This is a gesture of goodwill from Morocco to the people of Gaza during the holy month of Ramadan, which began today.

Israel and Morocco have established diplomatic agreements as part of the Abraham Accords, with Israel also engaging in security deals with Morocco. However, the recent Israeli aggression against Palestinians in Gaza has sparked massive protests in Rabat, with tens of thousands of Moroccans demanding an end of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

According to the report, the airdrop by Morocco appears to be a demonstration of the government’s commitment to assisting the civilians of Gaza. These civilians are in desperate need as millions face dire humanitarian conditions.

As the holy month of Ramadan approaches, the devastating situation in Gaza continues to worsen, with the death toll surpassing 31,045 and over 72,654 Palestinians injured amid the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) relentless war on defenseless civilians. The latest Israeli aggression has raised concerns about the spread of diseases and alarming levels of starvation in the besieged city.

The chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, King Mohammed VI of Morocco, has been at the forefront of calls for a peaceful resolution to the Palestinian cause. Morocco’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Nasser Bourita, reiterated the country’s firm and tangible support for the Palestinian people during the 161st session of the Council of the Arab League at the ministerial level in Cairo, Egypt.

Bourita emphasized that the only way to address the Palestinian cause is through dialogue and peaceful initiatives, rejecting the “logic of power and military solutions.” He called for an immediate, comprehensive, and permanent cessation of hostilities and ensuring unobstructed access to humanitarian aid. The Moroccan FM also condemned attempts at forced displacement of civilians and called for respect of international and humanitarian law.
