Rabat – Spanish public engineering company, Ineco, has been awarded the contract for the expansion and modernization of Casablanca International Airport, according to Spanish media reports.
Reports detail that Ineco will spearhead the expansion efforts, overseeing the development of both the flight area and the terminals.
The company is tasked with drafting the execution program, which will outline the comprehensive plan for the airport’s transformation.
The contract signing ceremony is slated for Wednesday, coinciding with the visit of the Spanish Minister of Transport – Oscar Puente – to Morocco.
One of the pivotal aspects of Ineco’s mandate is to project future air traffic volumes between 2040 and 2050.
By assessing the anticipated growth, the engineering firm will formulate strategies to optimize management practices within the airport.
In addition, Ineco will chart out a roadmap to integrate road and rail connections, facilitating travel for passengers to and from the airport.
The Casablanca International Airport is key for both domestic and international travel in the country.
With the planned expansion, the airport is poised to accommodate the growing demand ahead of Morocco’s co-hosting of the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
